Thailand National Broadband Network “A National Agenda”

The new Thailand National Broadband Network targets for 50% of the Thai people to have at least 2 Mbps Internet access within 5 years, and 95% to have 10 Mbps within 10 years. Internet will become the country’s new national basic infrastructure, as it is with water, electricity, transportation and education today. The new infrastructure will form the basis to better deliver next generation education, healthcare and government services to the people. With a national ICT policy formulated, MICT can align the industry players, seek the endorsement of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, before driving it as a national agenda for the public. Showcase projects will be deployed for the national broadband network, and investments in e-government will be used to anchor the use of the network and to demonstrate the benefits.
